Once, a king fell seriously ill. Despite the relentless efforts of his physicians, they couldn’t uncover the source of his sickness or provide a cure. With each passing day, the king's health deteriorated, and despair filled the court.
Then, a new doctor appeared at the palace, proposing a unique approach. He proclaimed, “If the king wears the shirt of a genuinely happy man, he will heal.”
Elated by the prospect of a remedy, the king's court embarked on a quest for such a man. However, as they searched throughout the kingdom, they discovered that even the wealthiest individuals were dissatisfied in some manner. Weeks went by, and the hunt grew more urgent.
One day, a minister strolled along the riverbank and noticed a man laughing joyfully. Curious, the minister inquired about his home. The man replied that he lived by the river. When asked if he was happy, he beamed, “I sleep in the shade of trees, eat fruits when I’m hungry, and drink from the river. I have no worries at all; I feel happy all the time.”
Convinced of the man’s happiness, the minister explained the situation and asked for the king’s shirt. He even promised a bag of gold coins in exchange. The happy man laughed and said, “I don’t own a shirt.”
The minister was taken aback and asked how he could be so joyful without possessions. The man answered, “I find joy in life’s simple pleasures and am content with what I have.”
Believe it or not, happiness does not hinge on wealth or material goods. While some resources are necessary for a decent life, an abundance of them does not equate to increased happiness.

One effective way is to maintain a gratitude journal. Each day, take a few moments to jot down three things (or at least one) that you're thankful for. It might be something as simple as a warm cup of coffee, a compliment from a friend, or a stunning sunset.
By focusing on the good, you can train your mind to recognize positivity in any circumstance, fostering a lasting sense of happiness.
