Chapter 1: Introduction to My Writing Journey

As I sit here in bed, typing on my iPad, I feel both mentally and physically drained. It would be so easy to skip today's writing, but I’m determined to keep my promise of writing for four consecutive days. Luckily, I’ve pinpointed a topic that excites me as I begin my writing career.

Section 1.1: The 75 Soft Challenge

For over a year, I've been eager to tackle the 75 Soft Challenge. My journey started with an ambitious goal to lose between 50 to 100 pounds through a 100-day weight loss plan I devised back in 2022.

A bit unrealistic, right?

No surprise, I could only maintain that commitment for 15 days before reverting to my old habits. I realized then that I was relying too heavily on fleeting motivation instead of fostering the discipline necessary for lasting change.

Reflecting on personal growth and challenges

Fast forward two years, and I'm still at the same point, struggling with discipline and leaning on motivation to push me forward. It’s time to turn things around. The 75 Soft Challenge will be my vehicle for developing the habits that will lead me to my goals.

Section 1.2: Understanding the 75 Soft Challenge

The 75 Soft Challenge is a more manageable version of the rigorous 75 Hard Challenge. The requirements for success over a span of 75 days include:

  1. Drinking a gallon of water daily
  2. Reading 10 pages of a book each day
  3. Eating clean foods
  4. Consuming alcohol only during social events
  5. Completing a 45-minute workout every day, with one active recovery day per week

If you miss any of these tasks, you must restart from day one.

Chapter 2: My Personal 75 Soft Challenge

In my earlier post, "The 100 Envelope Challenge," I mentioned my journey towards self-improvement. The 75 Soft Challenge will help me focus on personal transformation. While weight loss is a possible benefit, the primary aim is to cultivate discipline.

Here’s my customized 75 Soft Challenge checklist:

  • Establish a morning routine
  • Drink a gallon of water daily
  • Eat clean
  • Complete six days of 45-minute workouts, reserving the seventh day for active rest
  • Read 10 pages of a book every day
  • Adjust the alcohol rule to limit sweet drinks to social gatherings, as I don’t consume alcohol
  • Implement an evening routine

I’m aiming to kick off this challenge on June 1st, though I might start sooner depending on how quickly I finalize my meal plan and complete other preparations. Given the current chaos in my life, perhaps I shouldn’t delay any longer. Maybe tomorrow is the day to begin.

It's almost 8 PM in Chicago, and I’m ready to call it a night.
