Chapter 1: The Shiba Inu Metaverse Unveiled
In an exciting development, the team behind Shiba Inu Coin has announced that users can now utilize the meme coin to acquire virtual land within SHIB: The Metaverse. This marks a significant shift in the functionality of the coin, expanding its use beyond mere speculation.
As previously reported on Bitcoin Booth, the SHIB metaverse is set to feature over 100,000 land parcels, which will be released in phases. Initially, 36,431 plots will be made available across four distinct tiers: Silver Fur, Gold Tail, Platinum Paw, and Diamond Teeth during the initial launch phase.
Initially, the intention was to facilitate these land sales exclusively in Ether (ETH). However, due to community feedback, the Shiba Inu Coin is now accepted as an alternative payment option. Regardless, the pricing structure for the land remains unchanged, with costs ranging from 0.2 to 1 ETH depending on the tier. The key change is that buyers can now pay using Shiba Inu Coin as well.
Still, questions linger about the fate of the SHIB Coins generated from these sales. This revenue is intended to support the ongoing development of the SHIB Metaverse, which may have influenced the initial decision to sell land in ETH. Creating additional sales pressure through SHIB would not be advantageous.
Shiba Inu Faces Tough Competition in the Metaverse Arena
Shiba Inu is not alone in the metaverse race; competitors like the Bored Ape Yacht Club have already made significant strides. Recently, their land sale for the metaverse known as "Otherside" created such a frenzy that it nearly overwhelmed the Ethereum network.
So far, Shiba Inu has not encountered similar issues. Developer Shytoshi Kusama has expressed his enthusiasm for the project's progression, stating:
"I'm so incredibly excited about Shib's MV."
Whether this excitement resonates with the broader community remains to be seen. Nevertheless, the competition in this sector is intensifying, and only a handful of the projects will likely establish a strong foothold in the metaverse. Fortunately, Shiba Inu benefits from a vast and committed user base.
According to WhaleStats, there are currently 1,143,441 wallet addresses holding Shiba Inu Coin. While this number does not directly translate to individual users, it remains impressive. Additionally, Shiba Inu Coin continues to hold a significant position among the top 100 Ethereum wallets, boasting nearly $1 billion in value. Keeping an eye on these developments could prove crucial for investors.
